“It takes courage and consistency to deal with these questions and think through possible answers to the end.”
My professional career is that of a medical doctor. Science, day-to-day hospital work and medical technology projects dominated my professional life until I founded GfaW. I had achieved a lot in my life: I was head physician in a hospital, was able to pass on my knowledge as a trainer of young doctors and realize myself as an entrepreneur in medical technology and as a functionary in self-help.
And although I had everything, a voice often rumbled inside me: at what price is all the wealth around me being created? How can it be that we overlook the negative aspects of our consumer society? And the crucial question: How can I personally contribute to change?
After I had completed most of my part-time tasks, I still had more than enough energy left to get involved with GfaW. Yes, you can do something. But it takes courage and consistency to deal with these questions and to think through possible answers. With the CSE standard, we start where consumption options are created: in the companies.
Through my active involvement, I have already been able to answer some of my questions and experience practical examples of sustainability at first hand. I am very happy and proud to be involved in this innovative and ambitious project.
