This Sunday, April 6th, it’s time: We’re attending BioWest in Düsseldorf – one of the four regional trade fairs of the organic industry that are becoming increasingly important to us and have now secured a permanent place in our annual schedule. Because: While we used to regularly attend Biofach in Nuremberg, our focus has now completely shifted to regional formats like BioWest. And for good reason.
Why we no longer attend Biofach
Biofach was THE event of our industry for us for a long time – inspiring, well-attended, well-organized. But in recent years, from our perspective, quite a lot has changed. Above all, the natural cosmetics sector, which is particularly relevant to us, has virtually fallen asleep there. While there used to be Vivaness as an independent exhibition hall, everything was merged together at the last Biofach. The result: many natural cosmetics exhibitors dropped out – and the visibility of the segment is barely there anymore.
In addition: Organizationally, we’ve increasingly gotten the impression in recent years that the trade fair is losing quality. Not only us, but also many of our customers who exhibited there reported problems with booth positioning, weak communication with the trade fair team, and general dissatisfaction with the price-performance ratio – because visitor numbers are also now leaving much to be desired. In short: Currently, we don’t get any real added value from participating in Biofach anymore. The effort is not proportionate to what we get out of it.
Why BioWest (and Co.) work better for us
Regional organic trade fairs like BioWest simply feel closer to the reality of our industry. They are more compact, more focused, and more affordable – and they bring together exactly the people and companies we work with in everyday life. For us, this means: better conversations, more direct contacts, and a clear connection to the topics that concern us and our customers.
Another plus: We also actively use BioWest to visit our customers at their booths, exchange ideas, discuss new projects – and be personally available for questions. Anyone who would like to arrange an appointment with us is welcome to contact us even at short notice! Otherwise, feel free to approach us on site. Unfortunately, we don’t have our own booth, but due to the manageable size of the trade fair, we’ll surely find each other anyway!
Exciting keynote presentations at BioWest
In addition to networking, we’re also looking forward to exciting impulses. We’ve particularly noted three program items at BioWest – because they all concern topics that are currently very important to us:
📊 Organic Specialist Retail: Current Figures and Developments → 6.4. | 11 AM — Presentation
→ Speaker: Simon Döring – BioBerater SDServices
Using current market data, the situation in organic specialist retail will be examined here – with a look at challenges and concrete solution approaches. We hope for valuable insights into the industry’s dynamics.
💼 Underestimated Economic Factor: Making Organic Visible → April 6 6.4. | 12 PM — Panel Discussion
→ With Katja Meyer (GLS Bank), Adem Karakus (Petersilchen/Sanchon), Peter Schmidt (LVÖ), Janis Radau (SuperBioMarkt)
→Moderated by: Detlef Harting
Why is the organic industry economically so significant – and yet socially so invisible? We’re looking forward to this discussion about perception, impact, and necessary changes.
🌿 Natural Cosmetics and Drugstore Products in Organic Specialist Retail: Future Opportunity or Niche? → 6.4. | 1 PM — Presentation
→ Speaker: Mirja Eckert – The New
This presentation hits a nerve: What role can and should natural cosmetics play in specialist retail in the future? Which product range strategies are promising? For us, this is an absolute passion topic.
We’re looking forward to exciting impulses, good conversations, and reuniting with familiar faces. Anyone who wants to meet us at BioWest in Düsseldorf is welcome to contact us for an appointment at short notice – or simply drop by spontaneously.
And for everyone who can’t be there in person: We’ll share our impressions and highlights from the trade fair here on the blog afterwards.
Now it’s time to pack our bags – see you in Düsseldorf!
