CSE standard for trade and services extended
With the expansion of its “Certified Sustainable Economics” (CSE) standard, the Society for Applied Business Ethics (GfaW) is setting a milestone in the field of sustainability certification. In addition to pure production companies, a further development of the label means that retail and service companies can now also use the demanding seal and thus manifest their pioneering role. CSE is thus becoming the only independent, cross-sector sustainability standard in Germany and represents a reliable quality mark for consumers. Continuous qualitative development based on the current state of knowledge has always been the basis of this dynamic standard. Every year, the “Living Sustainability” working group, a committee of pioneers from the individual sectors, scientists and certification bodies, reviews the criteria and adapts them to new scientific findings and legal requirements. Compliance with ISO 14001, for example, has long been part of the certification process and, most recently, a social clause, e.g. limiting the wage gap within the company. As part of the expansion, innovative representatives from the retail and services sectors were included in the “Living Sustainability” working group. They ensure the high standard of the CSE seal in line with best practice in their sectors. Consumers benefit in particular from the comprehensive nature of the label, which goes far beyond mere product certification to encompass the sustainability commitment of the entire company. Pseudo-image and greenwashing have no chance under CSE.
