CSE company SODASAN wins German Sustainability Award – Recognition for 35 years of pioneering work in the field of sustainability

Why should our clean laundry poison our environment? That’s what the founders Jürgen Hack and Kerstin Stromberg thought more than 35 years ago when they tested the first ecological laundry detergents. SODASAN has managed to grow from a green idea into a truly sustainable company. The focus of the organic pioneer is not only on the environment. The holistic way of doing business as well as the innovative and family-friendly working and social standards convinced the jury of the German Sustainability Award. A few excerpts from the jury’s reasons for including SODASAN among the finalists: * Sustainability is deeply rooted in the company structures and so 12% of the workforce work together in the working group under the leadership of the sustainability officer to implement sustainability issues. * Electricity and heat come from renewable energies from the company’s own plants. Orchards with beehives are available to employees as a recreational area. * In purchasing, the focus is on the circular economy, both in the selection of raw materials and the choice of packaging material. * All suppliers are obliged to describe their sustainability activities and goals in addition to labor and social standards. * There are no night shifts for health reasons and a third of employees work part-time. The high proportion of women in management positions (50%) should also be mentioned here. Since last year, SODASAN has also carried the CSE seal. Many of the arguments in the jury’s decision are also required by the CSE sustainability certification: For example, the use of renewable electricity, fair remuneration and the selection of suppliers according to social criteria. SODASAN competed against more than 400 companies from the category of small and medium-sized enterprises and won. SODASAN shows in an exemplary way how comprehensively the topic of sustainability can be approached and what a positive influence a company then has on the environment, employees, customers and other companies involved. We are delighted for SODASAN and wish the former organic pioneer and current sustainability pioneer healthy growth for the future.
