Plant extracts from around the world
Botanica GmbH, based in Sins (Switzerland), has been developing a wide range of customized plant extracts for use in high-quality natural products since the end of the last millennium. Managing Director and founder Margret Wälti was well aware of her great responsibility as a buyer of natural raw materials on the world market and has consistently focused on sustainable business practices since the company was founded.
At the heart of the company are the employees, with their motivation and expertise, who live and promote the sustainable philosophy on a daily basis. The management recognizes this commitment by sharing in sales growth, granting generous vacation time and creating a positive working atmosphere based on respect and openness.
Fair dealings with business partners are a matter of course for Botanica. Long-term and trusting business relationships with dealers and producers all over the world are the guarantee for economic continuity.
Sustainability also plays an important role in discussions with customers; the most sustainable alternatives are sought and recommended for orders. Botanica bases its purchasing strictly on ecological and social criteria – right down to the packaging of the raw material containers. The company consistently distances itself from non-sustainable sources of supply and only offers glycerine from palm and coconut oil-free sources, for example.
The special Swiss conditions favor Botanica in terms of energy supply: The entire electricity requirement is covered by hydropower. It feeds the entire machine park, which – like new buildings and other investments – is continuously optimized for energy savings and efficiency.
Although Botanica remains rather unknown to end consumers as a supplier to the cosmetics industry, Margret Wälti opted for CSE company certification at an early stage, thus sending a clear signal for sustainable business practices.
