Organic food and products must be the norm – not a luxury for environmentally conscious individuals. The federal government should work towards this goal if it cares about the welfare of its citizens and the environment. Unfortunately, the government shows time and again that a different definition of prosperity is being pursued.
The production of organic food and products can only increase if the conditions for economic production are created. This means, of course, that producers can make a good living from it. We would also like to suggest that the added value provided by organic farms for the “non-destruction” of the environment (e.g. by building up humus, dispensing with pesticides, preserving biodiversity, etc…) must be reflected positively in the farms’ balance sheets. This is the only way to honestly and comprehensibly assess which type of operation is “more economical” in the long term and serves the common good.
On January 20, the demonstration WIR HABEN ES SATT will bring together all people and associations in Berlin who want to stand up for fair and ecological agriculture. On this day, agriculture ministers from all over the world will meet for a conference. Berlin will be the focus of media attention, so the demonstration will send out a clear signal. The GfaW will also send out a signal.
As a company that represents the interface between conscious consumers and sustainable economic players, we see an urgent need for action in agricultural policy. We are participating in the demonstration with a tractor sponsorship.
