How is a standard created and how does it stay up to date? – Working group meeting on April 17 and 18 in Kassel

What kind of products and business practices do we need to ensure a future fit for grandchildren? The search for the right answers to such questions occupies us as standard setters in our daily practice. A product standard, such as NCS and NCP, defines the quality of products. In the case of the CSE sustainability standard, it even defines the qualities of a company. How are such standards kept up to date in today’s fast-moving world? We, the Society for Applied Business Ethics, are always working hard to incorporate all the latest innovations from science and practice into our standards. Nowadays, new active ingredients are launched on the market almost every week, new processes are constantly being developed and excipients offered. As the standard setter, we examine these from an ethical point of view and ultimately decide whether processes and ingredients are approved in our standards.
However, the real know-how when it comes to sustainability is to be found in the companies themselves. They research and develop ingenious processes with which, for example, petrochemical substances (which are not permitted in any of our standards) can be replaced by natural substances. They know how to ensure that the supply chain is and remains fair and environmentally friendly. Or how to supply your entire company with environmentally friendly energy.
This knowledge must be disseminated and reflected in our standards in particular. After all, the GfaW certifications provide environmentally aware and critical consumers with useful guidance for their purchases. In order to discuss all innovations and update the standards, we are once again inviting you to our two working group meetings this year. In mid-April, companies from all over Germany will come together in Kassel to exchange ideas, discuss and listen to experts.
We will then decide what goes into the standards and what unfortunately – and rightly so – has to stay out. Are you an entrepreneur or specialist interested in participating?

Then get in touch with us.
